The Taranaki Naturists Club came into existence in the Early 1970s on a block of land on the Edge of the Egmont National Park and over 300 meters above sea level. Being so close to the mountain had merit but fine days were few and far between so in 1992 the decision was made to put the property on the market.

Within a short time the property sold and later the same year the club purchased a block of just over 2 hectares bordering the Waiongana River and just a short walk from the sea. Three second hand buildings were acquired and thanks to the hard work of a dedicated team a functional clubhouse, kitchen, ablution block and kitchen were established

Today the Taranaki Naturists Club is more established, many camp sites and Cabin/Bache’s onsite, newly install solar heated swimming pool.
